Kina Barrens Hui with MPI

Fisheries New Zealand is organising a hui to begin a conversation with tangata whenua in Te Tai Tokerau about kina barrens in the region, and we would like to invite you take part.

The hui will be held on Tuesday 23rd January at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, Gate 4, 12 Murdoch Cres, Raumanga, Whangārei at 11am.

Fisheries New Zealand has heard from tangata whenua and communities in Te Tai Tokerau that they want to see the issue of kina barrens addressed urgently so MPI have increased the priority for this work.

MPI are looking to progress a range of actions to address kina barrens this year. If you are not able to attend the hui on Tuesday 23rd January, you will have further opportunity for input in our work on kina barrens soon.

Some key ideas we would like to discuss with you are outlined in the attached information sheet, along with some questions to prompt useful discussion.
